Episode 16: Part two of our chat with Dr. Katie Tolbert about rational use of gastrointestinal protectants in cats

Katie Tolbert, DVM, PhD, DACVIM is an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University and on staff at the TAMU Gastrointestinal Lab. Katie is one of the authors of the ACVIM Consensus Statement: Support for rational administration of gastrointestinal protectants to dogs and cats.

In part two of our chat with Dr. Tolbert, we talk about how and when to use gastric acid suppressant drugs in cats. Dr. Tolbert talks about the need for more research in cats and how we cannot extrapolate data from dogs or humans to our feline patients. She is a big fan of the Winn Feline Foundation (we are too!). Dr. Tolbert received a grant from Winn in 2018 to study novel gastroprotectants in cats.
